My name is Sheila Jane Wood and I live with my husband Ken in Stourport on Severn. I am supposed to be retired but most of the time I am chasing my tail, being involved in singing, writing and looking after my two grandchildren. My husband is a professional ventriloquist which many people find quite amusing. The truth is, however, that he is very talented and has worked all over the world with his act. I have always written poetry and short stories, some being published, and I sing with a musical society. I have played too many parts to mention but suffice it to say I have enjoyed every moment of it. I am now spending more time writing and want to write a novel. My blog is about World War One poems which a great, great aunt wrote during 1914 -1918. She gave them to me in three small notebooks and they were written from the heart. Her name was Beatrice Helen Poole born April 3rd 1877 the youngest of 21 children living in The Tudor House Southampton, now a museum. She was known to all her family and friends as Babs. I wanted to get the poems published but thought a blog would be a good start. Before I retired I was a Monitoring Officer with Social Services in Wolverhampton and the manager of a Disability Resource Centre. I love living in Worcestershire and am glad I took early retirement. I am also very glad that I started this blog.

Your webpage about your relative Beatrice Helen Poole 1877-1973 is very interesting and moving, and we can be grateful to you for kindly sharing your discovery of the poetry.
I am particularly interested in the poem called “The Spring After” published in “The Quest” in July 1916. My interest is that the poem is quoted on the gravestone of an artist whose biography I have written and had accepted for publication.
Please email me and I will give you more details and a photograph of the actual gravestone.
I have sent you an email and look forward to hearing from you. My email address is kensheilawood@aol.com. My telephone number is 01299 823113. I am also on facebook.
